Moose Mane is a classic, natural fly tying material that gives the popular Mosquito dry fly its characteristic alternating dark and light quill body appearance. Be sure to avoid breakage by soaking the hairs in hot water before wrapping, and include a solid thread base underneath. Coat with an epoxy like Solarez Bone Dry for the most durable quill body. These long hairs are naturally buoyant, making mayfly tails on dries a great use for the tips.
