Important Update - September 25th, 2025
As of September 25th, 2025, all service standards pertaining to delivery timeframes and shipping rates listed here are temporarily paused due to a strike at Canada Post. Please see our Shipping Update on our blog for complete details.
Shipping Policy Overview
We do our best to process orders within 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) after receiving your order confirmation email. Exceptions may apply when we are awaiting your reply to a communication about your order or there are emergent or extenuating circumstances. You will receive another email notification when your order has shipped with tracking information included. Other important details and frequently asked questions:
- Orders placed before 2:00 pm MST may be shipped on the same day, though this is not guaranteed
- Orders ship via the best option at the sole discretion of Fish Tales - includes Canada Post, UPS, and other carriers
- We offer flat rate shipping for most domestic orders under $200, and free domestic shipping for most orders over $200***
- Free shipping offers apply to online orders only
- Expedited shipping is not offered through our online store at this time
Fish Tales reserves the right to decline without explanation or compensation beyond cancellation of pre-authorized amounts any order which does not fulfill requirements in this policy, our Terms of Service or Privacy Policy

For most orders under $200 to Canada or to the USA, the following rates and times are available based on the average carrier service standards:

**Your order may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are incurred once a shipment reaches your destination country. Fish Tales Fly Shop is not responsible for these charges if they are applied and are your responsibility as the customer. Some parcel options do not include tracking.
***Oversized and Specialty Items, including but not limited to: Spey rods, oars, extra-long single hand rods, oversized/specialty hats, rod carriers, luggage, and others, are not eligible for free shipping and may be subject to additional shipping costs or only available for in store pick-up. In-store pickup
You can skip the shipping cost with FREE local pickup at Fish Tales Fly Shop. After placing your order and selecting local pickup at checkout, your order will be prepared and ready for pick up within 24 hours. We will send you an email when your order is ready along with instructions.
Our in-store pickup is available during all open hours, 7 days a week.
When picking up your order in store, please be prepared to provide:
- Your Email Order Confirmation
- Photo ID
If someone else is picking up your order for you, please let us know or we may not be able to release your order. To protect you and your purchases, orders that don't meet these requirements will not be released.
Online orders that are picked up in store are not eligible for in-store refunds. Any refunds processed for online orders, regardless of pick up or shipping method, will be processed through the online platform directly to the original payment method only. No exceptions.
International Shipping
Orders placed from outside of Canada or shipping to the USA may not be fulfilled if payment methods do not fulfill security requirements or destination addresses cannot be verified. We do not ship to third party destinations outside of Canada.
We are unable to offer international shipping to locations outside of Canada or the USA* for online orders at this time.
Express Shipping Options
We are unable to offer express shipping for online orders at this time.
How do I check the status of my order?
To track a package, please visit https://www.canadapost-postescanada.ca/track-reperage/en#/home or the carrier website included on your order confirmation.
When your order has shipped, you will receive an email notification from us which will include a tracking number you can use to check its status. Please allow 48 hours for the tracking information to become available. Some parcels shipping to the USA may not have tracking available.
If you haven’t received your order within 14 days of receiving your shipping confirmation email, please contact us at sales@fishtales.ca with your name and order number, and we will investigate. For parcels without tracking, please contact us if you do not receive your order within 30 days of shipping confirmation. Fish Tales is not liable for lost or otherwise damaged or missing packages once they have entered the care of the shipping carrier. Any claim regarding package loss or damage will be investigated on a case by case basis.
During periods of suspension of estimated delivery times, such as a postal worker strike, parcel delivery investigations may not be available and are not promised for the duration of suspensions.
Refunds, Returns, and Exchanges
We accept returns up to 30 days after delivery, if the item is unused and in original condition and is otherwise eligible for return. Refunds, when eligible, are processed to the original payment method only, without exception. Please view our complete return policy before requesting a return.
In the event that your order arrives damaged in any way, please email us as soon as possible (within 48 hours of delivery) at sales@fishtales.ca with your order number and photos of both the packaging and the item(s) condition. While these circumstances are rare, we address these on a case-by-case basis and will do our best to work towards a prompt and satisfactory solution with our shipping carriers.
