Meet Our Team - Daniel Zbylut
Daniel has been tying commercially for the shop for several years. He initially started commercially tying to finance the purchase of his dream bike. Now it's several years in to his fly tying and fishing pursuits. He continues tying commercially for the shop, he's an accomplished classic salmon fly tyer, and in 2023 he started guiding.

How did you get started in fly fishing? I did it backwards, I started fly tying first and got into fly fishing after.
Favorite species? Trout...
Favorite water? The Bow River
Favorite technique? Streamer fishing
Favorite flies? Any kind of single hook streamer
Favorite fishing book or DVD? The Feather Thief by Kirk W. Johnson (book)
Favorite vise? Renzetii Presentation 4000
Favorite pattern to tie? Peacock Leech (which he ties by the thousands)
Most interesting (remote, distant, crowded, etc.) location you’ve fished? There are lots of cool places in Alberta where I mostly fish, but Picklejar Lakes was memorable.
Your destination/species wish list - Baby Tarpon is at the top of my list but any kind of saltwater fishing would be amazing to try.
Given the opportunity who would you choose to fish with? Or someone who has inspired you as an angler/tyer/teacher/guide - Many people have helped me along the way, but Matt Chatani has inspired me the most with his style of fishing.
