Fly Tying Coq De Leon Feathers
Coq De Leon feathers come from a centuries-old lineage of birds bred for their unique speckling and stiff, durable fibers. Also known as CDL, these tough and versatile feathers from both the roosters and hens are used in a variety of classic and modern fly patterns. The speckled feathers from the Pardo line are particularly popular today for many Euro nymph patterns. The stiff rooster barbs make excellent tailing fibers on nymphs and mayflies, and the hen capes are perfect for soft hackles collars on nymphs and streamers.
