It's that time of year again, the Bow River is now in full runoff. With lots of rain and some snow melt, the river levels have greatly increased in the last few days and everything is running dirty. Bow River at Calgary flows are leveling out a bit around 380 m3/s for the time being. Bow flows in Banff are 197 m3/s, Elbow below Glenmore flowing 97 m3/s, Highwood flowing 190 m3/s, and Bow below Highwood flowing 695 m3/s. Find up to the minute flows at https://rivers.alberta.ca/
Several boat launches on the Bow are closed right now including Glenmore and Fish Creek/22x. Many more are unoperational due to the high flows such as Policeman's and McKinnon Flats.
We have some slightly better weather coming at us in the next week with some more reasonable rain forecasted on the weekend and early next week. We still have a great selection of rain gear to keep you dry in the rainy weeks to come. Stop by the shop and check it out.
We also have the eastern slope streams opening tomorrow June the 16th. Most of these streams are in full runoff currently. Good idea to check the flows before you head out. Now is a great time to check your gear, make sure your tippet is good and fly boxes are full. The shop has everything you need to get ready for those mountain streams.
