The nice weather has a lot of folks thinking about hitting the water. And although we have some lucky customers who are embarking on saltwater flats adventures we know a lot of folks will be fishing closer to home.
We've had so many inquiries about launches the last few days that we thought we'd share an update.
Ogden - "a long way from being usable" as of Monday.
Glenmore - Open
Fish Creek Park - Closed until April 1.
Policeman's Flats - the barricades have been removed. Water level is still low so Exercise caution when using (as per Bow River Trout Foundation Facebook post.)
MacKinnon's Flats - Scheduled to Open April 15
Legacy Island - no report
Johnson Island/Carseland - no report
We will try to update this information as we receive updates.
If you are wanting to get out for some time on the Bow over the next several days please be cautious. Watch for floating ice that could potentially injure you while wading and ice shelves that could break off from any amount of weight. The ice shelves are very significant in some places.
Flies to try:
Nymphs: San Juan Worms, perdigons, smaller-sized dark color stoneflies like the TJ Hooker or coffee/black jimmy legs, prince nymphs, red copper johns, leeches.
Dries: Midge patterns like the Griffith's Gnat, indicator gnat (small size 18)
Streamers: Skiddish Smolt, flesh eating sculpin, Kreelex Minnows, leech patterns.
We're receiving new product most days at the shop. Flies are en route. Licences need to be renewed soon. The 2022 season is upon us.
Happy Fishing!
