Product Review - Korkers Fish Mocs by Courtney Neal

Product Review - Korkers Fish Mocs by Courtney Neal

The Korkers Fish Mocs are a deck shoe featuring a fun collaboration between Korkers and renowned fish artist Derek DeYoung. Being an artist myself, and needing a new pair of shoes to wear in the shop that are both comfortable and work appropriate, these new arrivals from Korkers were a no-brainer. These have been my go-to shop shoes for about 9 months now, and I've worn them fishing as well when there was no wet wading involved. I love the inclusion of the fish skins by DeYoung in the lining and insole, giving these seemingly plain slip-ons a secret fun side!

Besides the allure of fish art featuring a fellow artist, these shoes have a comfortable midsole with a breathable insole included in the Korkers' Cush Tech. This squashy construction does provide long-wearing comfort for a full day in the shop. The arch support is just enough for me, but a little more wouldn't be a bad thing. While the insole is vented, these do trap a bit of heat and moisture worn over a long period and a person with feet that sweat a lot would be more comfortable in the vented version of these shoes.
Though I mostly wear these with the backs over my heels, I really like how the back folds down to make a comfortable slide on for a quick trip or to slide on when changing out of waders. These have also been my go to footwear to drive my 6-speed in because the fit is secure and doesn't slide around, with socks or without. The soles have held up well on a variety of surfaces including concrete, gravel, tile and wooden docks.

These shoes come in both Men's and Women's options as well as a Men's Korkers Vented Leather Fish Moc. At the time of this writing, Fish Tales is carrying some styles in both of the Men's options, and the Women's sizes are available by special order. If the vented option came in Women's sizes, I would definitely get another set!

 Pros:

  • Party inside, business on the outside with fun fish art interior
  • Comfortable, cushy midsole
  • Removable insole
  • Durable, slip resistant sole
  • Versatile
  • Fold down back is handy

Cons:

  • Moderate arch support might not be enough for some
  • Light colored canvas variant isn't easy to keep clean
  • Not suitable for sweaty feet
  • Options in women's sizing are very limited including no vented model
