It’s Fly Tie Tuesday. If you are looking to hone your skills in 2021 you might want to try tying some traditional flies. These can be rewarding ties on their own but work great for catching trout, steelhead, salmon... This week’s example is the Jock Scott - a fly that has been working now for over 150 years. This version demonstrates that you don’t have to steal feathers from a museum to tie one (see the Feather Thief in our online store book section). Stop in and ask Daniel, our traditional salmon fly expert, for ideas on substitutions or techniques or pick up one of our many great reference books to help you on your way.

In October 2019 we started posting weekly Fly Tie Tuesday featured flies to our social media feeds. These posts feature an image (or two) of a finished fly and the “ingredients list” for the finished pattern.
