The Solitude Flies Translucent Emerger makes an excellent caddis emerger, with a deer hair wing and translucent dubbed body that perfectly imitate a partially emerged insect stuck in the surface film. This fly is especially effective when fish are feeding just under the surface but won't rise to a caddis dry. To fish this fly as a cripple, dab some floatant on the wing and lightly twitch to mimic a struggling caddis. Drop this behind a dry fly to double your chances, or swing through current.
