Meet Our Team - Ethan Burrows

Ethan joined the shop in the spring of 2026. He's an enthusiastic and knowledgeable addition to the team with fishing experience that belies his youth. When he's not at school or working, he's tying flies or fishing. We're excited to see him continue to evolve with his fly fishing pursuits.

How long have you been fishing? Since I was 5

How long have you been fly fishing? Since I was 8

How did you get started in fly fishing? My dad took me on a walk and wade to the Eastern Slopes to try it out

Favorite species?

Freshwater – Brown trout
Saltwater - Chinook salmon

Favorite water?

River – Bow
Lake - Skaha
Saltwater – Pacific Ocean off the coast of Campbell River

Favorite technique? Streamer fishing

Favorite flies?

Freshwater:

• Budget dungeon
• EH Agent Scully
• Double Stack Chubby Chernobyl

Saltwater:

• Clouser Minnow

Favorite Vise (as in the tool.) Renzetti traveler with clamp.

Favorite pattern to tie? Cheech leech

Favorite material and why? Rabbit strips- so many of the streamers that I use have it and it flows so well in the water. There’s so many different applications for it and it’s about finding out what they are by experimenting with different flies.

Prefer to fish alone or with friends?
With friends

Interesting anecdote (ie. Embarrassing moment with a fly rod, interesting story
about something you caught, etc.)
When I was fishing Lundbreck falls with a hopper dropper I caught one brown
trout on the nymph and one on the hopper on the same cast.
Most interesting (remote, distant, crowded, etc.) location you’ve fished.

Given the opportunity who would you choose to fish with? Or someone who has
inspired you as an angler/tyer/teacher/guide. Brian Flechsig - he is so knowledgeable and after watching so many of his videos I feel like it would be a cool experience to have a day on the water with him.
