The Fish Tales Level One Fly Tying Course is designed to provide new tiers with the skills they need to sit down and tie most flies. We've spent more than 20 years helping new tiers start their journey into the world of fly tying. In this course you'll learn the key fundamentals of fly tying, including but not limited to:
- Proportions
- Material and Hook Selection
- Proper Finishing Techniques
Course fee: $120 instruction fee. Students are responsible for providing all materials and tools. Materials kits are available at the store. We also stock a wide assortment of vises and tools. Please visit the shop to purchase necessary supplies prior to your first class. Sessions are one evening per week for 5 weeks.
Fall 2023 Course Dates:
- Session 1 - Tuesdays, October 17 & 24; Monday, October 30; Tuesday, November 7 & 14
Winter 2024 Course Dates:
- Session 1 - Tuesdays, January 16, 23, 30; February 6, 13
- Session 2 - Tuesdays, February 27, March 5, 12, 19, 26
Courses are limited to five participants.
