Robin joined the Fish Tales team in the fall of 2017. His analytical nature, strength with numbers, and computer savvy are all welcome strengths. Robin is an enthusiastic angler who can often be found along the banks of the Bow or other Southern Alberta waters. Not to mention he has a pretty good sense of humor - see below. ;)
How long have you been fishing? Typically about 20-30 feet from shore.
How long have you been fly fishing?
How did you get started in fly fishing?
As a young orphan I learned to fish in the streets. You either got good or you died. I went hungry many nights, as there are rarely fish on pavement. Those first few years were tough.
Favorite species? Homo Neanderthalensis. I wish we got to know them better, you know?
Favorite water? San Pellegrino Limonata for sure. It’s refreshing and makes me feel like I’ve made it in the world.
Van Gogh's use of line and color. I think realism is great but the boy just speaks to my heart.
Butter. Undoubtedly. I like the colours and when they land on my hand like a Disney princess.
Favorite fishing book or DVDI never learned to read. You’d think I’d list a DVD but it makes navigating DVD menus quite difficult. What do all those letters add up to?
Favorite Vise (as in the tool.) Yost Vises 455 5.5" Utility Combination Pipe and Bench Vise. It’s pretty inexpensive but will be fine for most home users. If you’ve got the money you could spring for a Wilton industrial model but I think you’re starting down a rabbit hole who’s depths know no bounds.
Favorite pattern to tie?
Plaid bow-tie. It’s snappy but not overly formal. Good for most tie related events.
Your destination/species wishlist:
Outer space. Has it been done? What’s working out there???
Given the opportunity who would you choose to fish with? Or someone who has inspired you as an angler/tyer/teacher/guide.
Jackie Chan. I bet he has a lot of cool stories for the drive.
